For anyone who is craft challenged (like me), this project is for you. Whether you’re looking to add some artwork to your apartment or make your dorm feel a little more homey, this is a great DIY project.
All you need is a canvas, acrylic paint, and paint brushes, all of which can be found at your local craft store. If you’re like me and very particular, you can use a pencil to outline your design before you start painting. That’s what my sister did for her chevron board that she started (see above).
For my monogrammed canvas, I found an online monogram generator that I used to create the monogram I wanted. You may have to play around with scaling it to the size you want it to be. Then I traced the monogram onto the canvas.
I used a ruler to space out the stripes evenly on my Lilly board, then free-handed the letters.
I really love this project because it’s so easy, and it’s a great way to add your own personal touch to a space. I find it more fulfilling to have a piece of artwork that I made hanging on the wall.
These canvases are hanging in my apartment. You can get a peek at my home away from home on ThePreppyMAG, where I’ll be a contributing ThePreppyU blogger! I’m so excited. Check it out!
