Apartment Decor + Life Update

Apartment with Roses

And just like that, the first month of 2017 is over. Happy February. With a new month comes some big news!

You probably guessed it based on the title of this post, but I’m excited to share that in a couple of months I’ll be moving into my first big girl place, my very own apartment! I’m nervous, but mostly excited. It’s in a great location, and about a half mile down the road from the barre studio I go to. Hopefully that will help me to whip my butt into shape. I’m especially excited (but also very overwhelmed) about decorating and making the space all my own.

Pink Furniture

I have no idea what I want to do as far as decor, and I definitely wouldn’t say I have an eye for design. I’d definitely love to incorporate pink, but I haven’t fully committed to any color scheme. I’m hoping I’ll see a piece of furniture or an accessory that will inspire the look of the apartment. It’s pretty spacious for a one bedroom, so I’ll have plenty of space to work with. Because of this, I’m leaning towards a sectional to fill the space but still have enough room for seating.

Now, here’s where I need your help! What are your favorite places to shop for home decor and furniture? Where can I get a good deal? Any other tips about apartment shopping or living I should be aware of? I want to hear any advice you have! Ready, set, go!

My favorite places? I like mixing designer furniture with cheaper small items from Ikea. For example sofa, bed, coffee table, etc. is better get designer or custom-made. It has to last.

Such sound advice, Miri! Thank you! I totally agree better to buy for quality that will last.

YAY this is so exciting! I’m your girl to help, after living in 2 apartments, in 2 different states, in only 2 years I have been through it all! Almost all my furniture is from Pottery Barn (gift from the parents when I graduated college) but I can’t stress enough how it is important to invest in good furniture. You don’t want something that will fall apart (especially if you move) and then you have to buy another piece again and you end up spending the same amount of money. Home Goods is my go to for fun accent chairs, lamps, pillows, and decor. West Elm has been having a lot of sales lately too. Wayfair is perfect option too for just about everything, including rugs! Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Thanks, Girl! We have a Home Goods, and I had great luck at Pottery Barn outlet in college. We now have a West Elm outlet so I’m hoping to look there too.
