What I’m Thankful For

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and today I’m taking the time to reflect on what I’m thankful for. Below are three people I am thankful for each and every day. They love me. They support me. And they know how to make me smile.

What I’m thankful for…
  • I’m thankful for my family.
  • I’m thankful for my friends, old and new, near and far.
  • I’m thankful to have a boyfriend who loves me unconditionally.
  • I’m thankful I go to an amazing university, one I’m not ready to say goodbye to this spring.
  • I’m thankful that I have a way to express myself and grow in my writing through A Pop of Pink.
  • I’m thankful for the amazing people I’ve met through blogging.
  • I’m thankful I live in a state where I get to enjoy all four seasons, even if the cold weather gets old really quickly.
  • I’m thankful for all of the adventures I’ve had in Pittsburgh. I’m thankful to have a place that I will always call my second home.
  • I’m thankful for mashed potatoes, because they are delicious. 😉 Sorry, had to.
  • I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given that have shaped me into the person I am today.
  • I’m thankful for this time of year, where I have a reason to sit around the table with my loved ones and enjoy a meal together.
I hope everyone is able to enjoy a meal with the people who mean the most to them tomorrow. Even though this time of year can be crazy, I hope you take the time to enjoy the moment. Happy Thanksgiving!

What are you thankful for this year?

Add a Twist to Your Monday

Photos courtesy of Ryan Dougherty

This outfit I would describe as classic with a twist. Instead of riding boots, I went with combat boots for a little bit of an edge. This mixed-media sweater was a purchase I made a while back, and it’s a different take on a traditional sweater with the unique back. It was a color I didn’t have yet in my wardrobe, and I knew it would be perfect for fall. Can’t get enough of it.

Wearing: J.Crew sweater (limited sizing; love this too) | Madewell jeans (love these) | Steve Madden combat boots (also available here) | Fossil watch | Baublebar necklace | J.Crew bag (old, similar here and can’t beat the price on this one)
J.Crew is a great place to shop for sweaters. They make great holiday gifts. Let’s be real. Who doesn’t love a cozy sweater? If you’re like me, then you could make an entire wish list devoted to sweaters. Oh, and I did. Seriously, I could wear one every day of the week.

I added my favorite, every day jewelry pieces to dress up the outfit and still keep it classy. This look would be great to wear for Thanksgiving dinner, but I could wear it any and every day. If you’re looking for another Thanksgiving outfit idea, click here for a dress and here for a sweater + vest combo. I can’t believe the holiday is only a few short days away! I’d love to hear what you’ll be wearing!

Holiday Gift Guide: Sweaters and Scarves

A rare Saturday post! I thought about saving this for another day, but after a week of super cold temperatures, I thought now would be a good time to share some cozy sweaters and scarves with you. Really, we could call this gift guide “Ellen’s Wish List” because all of these scarves and sweaters are perfection. During the winter months, all I want to do is throw on an oversized sweater and a pair of jeans or leggings, layer up with a scarf, and head out the door. No thought required.

Any of these would make great gifts for moms, sisters, or friends. But if you’re like me, then you’ll probably be adding a couple of these items to your holiday wish list. Grab a cup of coffee and start shopping!
